    What is sugarcane alcohol?

    Alcohol made from sugarcane 

    How to make alcohol from sugarcane 

    After harvesting, the sugarcane is cut and milled with water to produce raw sugar cane juice. The juice is then heated to remove unwanted impurities, after which it is ready to ferment. When the fermentation is complete, the alcohol can be distilled. At Nedstar, our sugarcane undergoes at least four rounds of fermentation and distillation to achieve the exceptionally high purity and neutrality required for applications across food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries.

    Various applications of sugarcane alcohol

    Sugarcane ethanol is widely used as a base for many spirits, with rum being the most well-known. Another popular sugarcane alcohol-based drink is cachaça, though it is also suitable for a variety of other liquors. Beyond the bulk spirit market, sugarcane alcohol serves as a preservative or flavouring agent in the food industry. Additionally, its neutral base and high purity make it highly valuable for non-food applications, including pharmaceuticals and perfumes. Organic sugarcane alcohol for perfume is particularly popular due to its purity and sustainable origins, while isopropyl alcohol made from sugarcane offers an eco-friendly alternative for various industrial and personal care products.

    Denaturants

    If you do not use sugarcane alcohol for food and beverage grade products, we can denature it for you. In that case, the product will be exempt from excise duty. You can choose from a variety of denaturing agents that fit your regional regulations such as DEP, MEK, Bitrex, IPA or Euro Denatured.
