Ethanol for food applications
Ethanol plays a vital role in the food industry, particularly in the production of vinegar and flavourings. As a versatile, food-grade solvent, it enables the extraction, preservation, and enhancement of taste while meeting the highest safety and quality standards.
At Nedstar, we provide premium non-GMO ethanol sourced from natural raw materials to support customers worldwide.
Food applications
Vinegar
Vinegar is one of the oldest and most widely used condiments, and ethanol is the foundation of its production. During controlled fermentation, ethanol is converted into acetic acid, which gives vinegar its characteristic sharpness.
Our expertise allows us to supply vinegar producers with ethanol tailored to their exact specifications, ensuring reliability and consistent taste profiles.
Flavouring
Ethanol is also an essential solvent in flavouring applications. It extracts and preserves delicate aromas from herbs, spices, and botanicals, delivering authentic taste experiences in food and beverages.
By using ethanol from Nedstar, manufacturers benefit from a trusted supply chain and diverse sourcing options that meet both creative and regulatory needs.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Minimum order quantities depend on the ethanol grade and packaging selected. In Europe, the minimum order is one intermediate bulk container (IBC) of 1,000 litres / 264 gallons. For clients in the US, Americas, Africa, or Asia, the minimum is one full container load (FCL): either 20,000 L / 5,283.4 gal (80 × 250 L / 66 gal drums) in a 20ft container, or 31,750 L / 8,387.5 gal (127 × 250 L / 66 gal drums) in a 40ft container. Our team will advise you on the most efficient option based on your industry and requirements.
What acidity level is best for food preservation applications?
For effective food preservation, vinegar should have an acidity level of at least 4% (40 grain). Most commercial food applications use 5-6% acidity for optimal antimicrobial activity while maintaining palatability. Higher acidity levels (up to 30%) may be required for specific industrial pickling processes.
