Whiskey, also spelt whisky in some regions, is a distilled spirit made from fermented grain mash, aged in wooden casks to develop its unique character.
At Nedstar, we supply a variety of whiskey products from many grain origins such as Scotch whisky, Bourbon, and rye whiskey. Read more about each type below:
Produced in Scotland, Scotch whisky is known for its distinct smoky and peaty flavours. It's often categorized further into subtypes such as single malt scotch (made from malted barley in a single distillery), blended scotch (a mix of different malt and grain whiskies), and single grain scotch (made from grains other than malted barley).
Hailing from Ireland, Irish whiskey is typically triple-distilled for a smoother taste. It can vary in flavour from light and floral to rich and complex. Examples include single-malt Irish whiskey and blended Irish whiskey.
Originating in the United States, bourbon is made primarily from corn and aged in charred oak barrels. It has a sweet and robust flavour profile, often with notes of caramel, vanilla, and oak. To be labelled as bourbon, the spirit must meet specific legal requirements, including being made in the U.S. and containing at least 51% corn.
Also from the U.S., rye whiskey is made primarily from rye grains. It tends to have a spicier and fruitier profile compared to bourbon, with notes of pepper, cinnamon, and sometimes fruitiness from the rye.
Made primarily from corn and typically unaged or aged for a short period, corn whiskey has a sweet and straightforward taste. It's less common than other types of whiskey.
Canadian whiskey is known for its smooth, light character, often crafted with rye and a mix of other grains and aged in oak barrels for a refined finish.
Made across various European regions using a range of agricultural origins.
