Our CSR efforts

Nedstar aims to contribute to a cleaner and better world. We take our corporate social responsibility (CSR) seriously and want to make a positive impact environmentally, socially and economically. We have therefore committed ourselves to various CSR initiatives relevant to our relationships with suppliers, customers and the planet.

UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

To focus our efforts, we use the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN. We support all 17 SDGs, but the most relevant to our work are SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption & Production and SDG 13: Climate Action.

Sustainable Development Goals

SDG 8: Decent work

We do all we can to empower local production in emerging markets and apply fair-trade principles in our dealings with local producers.

SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production

We are committed to working exclusively with counterparties who operate responsibly.

SDG 13: Climate Action

At Nedstar, we believe in deeds not words. So we’ve signed up to two important initiatives.

Our supported initiatives

Tree Nation — Nedstar partners with Tree Nation to calculate and offset its carbon footprint. Tree Nation is a reforestation platform certified by the leading international CO2 certification standards such as VCS, CCB and Plan Vivo. This means the CO2 sequestration values, and their evolution over time, are frequently recalculated via close monitoring and measurements throughout the projects.

IMO 2020 — Nedstar welcomes the International Maritime Organisation’s IMO 2020 regulation, which sets a maximum sulphur content of 0.5% in marine fuels. This will reduce air pollution from the shipping industry by 77% and have a major positive environmental impact.

The Green Intelligence — The Green Intelligence restores degraded and monocultural landscapes with healthy productive food forests. To enhances biodiversity, build resilient landscapes and increases economic opportunities for local communities.
