Alcohol for vinegar

Vinegar, historically known as "eisel," is a water-based solution that contains acetic acid and small additives such as flavourings. Typically, vinegar contains about 5 to 8% acetic acid by volume. The types of vinegar vary depending on the source materials used. At Nedstar, we supply extra neutral alcohol for your vinegar products worldwide.

What is white vinegar?

White vinegar, also known as distilled vinegar, is a type of vinegar that is made from the fermentation of distilled alcohol. It is a clear, colourless liquid with a sharp, sour taste. White vinegar is typically made from grains, such as corn or wheat, and goes through a two-step fermentation process.

The first step involves converting the starches in the grains into alcohol through the process of fermentation. This produces a liquid known as distilled alcohol or ethanol, the product Nedstar is specialised in. In the second step, the distilled alcohol is further fermented by adding bacteria called acetobacter, which converts the alcohol into acetic acid. Acetic acid is the main component of vinegar and gives it its characteristic sour taste and pungent smell.

Nedstar vinegar cleaning

Vinegar as flavour enhancer

White vinegar is widely used as a cooking ingredient, for baking and food preservation. It is commonly used as a condiment, salad dressing, marinade, and pickling solution. White vinegar is distinctly different from other types of vinegar, such as apple cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar, which have their own distinct flavours and uses.

White vinegar as cleaning agent

Due to its easy manufacturing process, vinegar, known as a mild acid, has a wide range of applications in both industrial and household contexts; it is used for cleaning purposes due to its acidity and antimicrobial properties and is often preferred for cleaning because it does not contain any artificial colours or flavouring.

Here are some examples to use vinegar as a cleaner:

Vinegar is an effective descaler due to its acidic nature. You can use vinegar to remove limescale from water faucets, showerheads, kettles, coffee makers, and other appliances.

Vinegar can help remove grease and oil on surfaces such as stovetops, ovens, range hoods, and microwaves.

Windows and mirrors

Equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle can be used to clean windows and mirrors. Wipe off the cleaner with a clean cloth or newspaper for a streak-free result.

Odour removal

Vinegar can help neutralise unwanted odours in the house, for example, by placing a bowl of vinegar in a room with a strong odour, such as paint or smoke. The vinegar absorbs the odour over time.

Floor cleaning

Vinegar can be used to clean hard floor surfaces such as tiles, linoleum, and laminate.
