The coffee belt
Understanding coffee geography
Coffee grows within the Coffee Belt, the tropical zone about five degrees north and south of the equator, where climate and altitude shape unique flavours. Latin American origins such as Brazil, Colombia, Honduras and Peru are known for balance and consistency.
In East Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda stand out for vibrant, complex profiles. Across the Asia-Pacific, Indonesia and Vietnam lead production, with emerging origins adding diversity. By aligning with harvest cycles, Nedstar Coffee ensures year-round availability and a reliable supply of premium coffee.
Nedstar coffee origins
These are some of the countries from where we source the highest quality coffee from local producers.
Brazil
Brazil is the world’s largest coffee producer, offering an unmatched depth and diversity of flavours to suit every market and budget. Its importance to the global coffee trade cannot be overstated. At Nedstar Coffee Desk, we collaborate with certified co-ops, single-estate farmers, and major exporters to bring roasters a truly dynamic and versatile range of Brazilian coffees.
Colombia
Colombia’s economy is deeply intertwined with coffee, and the country’s vast number of producers creates an incredible diversity of offerings — from regional specialties and certified lots to microlots and commercial grades. Through our strong and dependable network of independent shippers, we ensure a steady and reliable flow of Colombian coffee to market.
Peru
Beyond its famous marmalade-loving bear, Peru is a nation between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes that produces consistently reliable and high-scoring coffees. Grown at high altitudes by a dedicated community of small-scale, well-organised farmers, Peruvian coffees stand out for their care, quality, and character.
Nicaragua
Often overlooked, Nicaragua presents a vibrant alternative among Central American coffees. Its mountainous regions and dense forests yield hard beans with moderate acidity and balanced flavour. With abundant RFA certifications, Nicaraguan coffees offer both quality and sustainability in every cup.
Guatemala
Guatemala’s dramatic volcanic landscape produces exceptional coffees, primarily shade-grown and washed. Expect caramel sweetness, juicy citrus, and rich chocolate notes in the cup. We work closely with cooperative exporters and certified smallholder farmers across this culturally rich country to source a wide variety of qualities.
Kenya
The birthplace of our journey, Kenya operates a complex marketing system of auctions, agents, and cooperatives that channels its coffee to the world. Within that system lies some of the most sought-after coffees globally — celebrated for their citric acidity, blackcurrant notes, and bold forest-fruit flavours.
Ethiopia
The birthplace of coffee — and still one of the most diverse producing nations in the world. Our passion for Ethiopian coffee runs deep, just like the country’s diversity in language, culture, and landscapes, reflected perfectly in the cup. From Addis, our partners curate a wide range of grades and qualities for export.
Rwanda
Small in size but mighty in flavour, Rwanda consistently delivers coffees that punch above their weight. With standout lots rivaling the best of Kenya and an abundance of reliable commercial grades, our network of trusted exporters ensures a steady flow of Rwandan coffee to market.
Tanzania
Once known as Tanganyika, this East African nation produces both Arabica and Robusta across its diverse regions. From high-grown Arabica in the north to milder varieties in the south, and robust Robustas in the west, Tanzania remains a true all-rounder in the coffee world.
Uganda
With its rich soils and ideal climate, Uganda has all the conditions to be a coffee powerhouse. From microlots and washed Arabicas to natural processes and robust Robustas, the country offers remarkable diversity — making it a source of endless opportunity.
India
Known as the world’s largest democracy, India is also emerging as a serious force in coffee. From smooth Robustas to the unique character of Monsoon Malabar, this tea-famous origin is steadily building its reputation as a producer of distinctive and versatile coffees.
Vietnam
A showcase of what policy and scale can achieve, Vietnam has grown into one of the world’s leading coffee producers. We work closely with shippers who source directly from the highland growing regions, preparing coffees for export out of Ho Chi Minh City.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of coffee do you supply?
We source both Arabica and Robusta coffees from all producing origins. Our range covers everything from consistent commercial coffees to specialty lots and price-sensitive undergrades.
Can I request specific grades or qualities?
Yes. We work closely with suppliers to meet your requirements for quality, grade, and flavour profile, whether you need mainstream commercial lots or more distinctive origins for blends.
Are your coffees certified?
We supply coffee with a wide range of certifications, including Rainforest Alliance, Organic, Fairtrade, and EUDR compliance, with traceability available at farm level where required.
Can I get samples before placing an order?
Yes, we provide free samples from our UK facility. We often include complementary origin samples to help you discover blending opportunities. Sample shipping typically takes 3-5 business days within Europe.
Can you split containers between different origins?
Yes, we can arrange mixed containers combining 2-3 origins, particularly useful for roasters wanting to blend or test multiple coffees. Minimum 100 bags per origin within the container.
What packaging options preserve freshness best?
Grain Pro (hermetically sealed) bags offer maximum freshness protection for 6-12 months. Traditional jute allows breathing but should be used within 3-6 months. We recommend Grain Pro for longer storage periods, especially for specialty coffees.
