For food distributors, the BRC Global Standard (BRCGS) for Storage and Distribution is the more relevant standard, designed specifically to ensure best practices in the handling, storage, and distribution of products.
This standard complements the BRCGS for Food Safety, targeting the segment of the supply chain that deals with the products after they leave the production facility but before they reach the retail outlets or food service providers.
Key features of the BRCGS Agents and Brokers Standard
Risk management
The standard focuses on risk management and traceability within the supply chain. It helps agents and brokers identify and assess risks associated with their activities and implement measures to mitigate those risks.
Product safety and quality
Agents and brokers are required to ensure that the products they deal with are safe and meet the necessary quality standards. The standard provides guidelines for managing product safety and quality throughout the supply chain.
