What is TBA?
Tertiary butyl alcohol appears as a colourless, volatile liquid with a dangerous, sweet smell. t-Butyl Alcohol is produced in large quantities. Nearly half of its use is in paints and other coatings because it quickly evaporates into the air and also dissolves many substances.
What is Bitrex?
Bitrex, or denatonium benzoate, is the world’s most bitter compound. It’s added to denatured alcohol (such as TSDA-1) to prevent accidental ingestion, especially by children. Despite its extreme bitterness, Bitrex is non-toxic and poses no health risk when consumed in small amounts.
Uses of denatured alcohol TSDA-1
Denatured alcohol TSDA-1 has antimicrobial properties, which means it can destroy bacteria and other germs, making it an important ingredient in disinfectants.
It acts as a natural preservative, solubiliser, sun filter, and refreshing agent, making it ideal for cosmetics like moisturisers, sunscreens, aftershaves, hair sprays, and deodorants.
And finally, denatured alcohol TSDA-1 is also totally natural, which makes it an important ingredient for any manufacturer looking to create products for the increasingly sizeable organic cosmetics market.
